Overview:Halifax Health is seeking an Advanced Practice
Registered Nurse (APRN) for Hospice and Palliative Care.Summary:The
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) will be joining a
collegial medical group of nurse practitioners and physicians
committed to an interdisciplinary team approach of providing the
highest quality comprehensive/compassionate hospice-palliative care
to patients and families in a variety of settings including homes,
nursing homes, hospitals, hospice care centers, and assisted living
facilities. This is an opportunity to provide fulfilling and needed
healthcare in an environment where ARNPs have been a respected and
integral part ofthe team model for years. The APRN reports to the
Nurse Practitioner Coordinator and works under a collaborative
agreement (as required under Florida law) with the Hospice Medical
Director and other hospice/palliative physicians. An applicant for
this Nurse Practitioner II position should be an individual who is
both comfortable caring for the dying patient at home and
comfortable caring for the palliative care patient still desiring
ongoing aggressive care in an intensive care unit. The nurse
practitioner, upon completion of training, will be expected to help
manage symptoms, independently facilitate family meetings, explain
complex medical conditions in an understandable fashion, assess for
psychosocial /emotional/spiritual angst, and collaborate readily
with physician specialists, nurses, case managers, social workers,
chaplains, and ancillary hospital and hospice staff. Job
Qualifications:
- Master's degree with appropriate training as a Nurse
Practitioner in a clinical specialty area from an accredited
program.
- Current licensure as an APRN with prescription authority in the
State of Florida.
- Oncology/Hospice/Palliative Care certification preferred but
not required.
- Current state driver's license and automobile insurance.
- Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
- Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential
diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and management of acute
chronic patient problems.Experience working as a nurse practitioner
in a hospital setting is desirable
- Must be willing to embrace the hospice philosophy and provide
care to hospice/palliative care patients of all ages (with back-up
assistance as needed for special populations such as infants and
children).Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Position requires a large amount of walking and occasional
stairs.
- The ability to analyze complex medical records, review
diagnostic tests results, perform a thorough physical exam, and
efficiently document consultation reports.
- Halifax Health Hospice serves patients in Volusia, Flagler,
Orange, and Osceola counties. Although efforts are made to minimize
driving times of all employees to optimize their clinical
productivity, as we cover for one another there will be times when
long car rides cannot be avoided. Mileage is reimbursed per health
