Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in delivering
high-quality patient care within healthcare settings across the
United States. This position focuses on providing compassionate and
competent nursing care to patients, particularly those dealing with
substance abuse and behavioral health challenges. The LPN will
collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to implement care
plans, monitor patient progress, and educate patients and their
families on health management and recovery strategies. By applying
clinical knowledge and practical skills, the LPN ensures patient
safety, comfort, and adherence to treatment protocols. Ultimately,
this role contributes significantly to improving patient outcomes
and supporting the overall mission of the healthcare facility.
Minimum Qualifications: Valid and current Licensed Practical Nurse
(LPN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
Completion of an accredited practical nursing program. Basic
knowledge of healthcare practices, patient care procedures, and
nursing fundamentals. Experience or training in substance abuse and
behavioral health care. Strong communication skills to effectively
educate and support patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification in substance abuse
counseling or behavioral health nursing. Experience or training in
substance abuse and behavioral health care. Experience working in
behavioral health or substance abuse treatment facilities.
Additional training in patient education techniques and
motivational interviewing. Familiarity with electronic health
record (EHR) systems. CPR and First Aid certification.
Responsibilities: Administer medications and treatments as
prescribed by physicians and according to nursing protocols.
Monitor and document patients’ vital signs, symptoms, and
behavioral changes, reporting any concerns to the healthcare team
promptly. Provide patient education focused on substance abuse
recovery, behavioral health management, and general wellness
practices. Assist in developing and implementing individualized
care plans tailored to patients’ physical and mental health needs.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses,
doctors, and counselors, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive
patient care. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in
compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
Support patients emotionally and psychologically by fostering a
safe and respectful environment during their treatment journey.
Skills: The Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes healthcare knowledge
daily to assess patient conditions and administer appropriate
nursing care. Substance abuse knowledge and behavioral health
expertise enable the nurse to address complex patient needs
sensitively and effectively, promoting recovery and wellness.
Patient education skills are essential for communicating treatment
plans and health maintenance strategies clearly to patients and
their families. The nursing license ensures that all care provided
meets regulatory standards and professional guidelines, maintaining
patient safety and quality of care. Preferred skills such as
certification in behavioral health and proficiency with electronic
health records enhance the nurse’s ability to deliver
comprehensive, coordinated care and improve patient outcomes.
