work. Job Description The Executive Director of School Age Programs
is responsible for leading the development, management, and growth
of 50 Before & After School Programs and 25 Summer Day Camps in a
five-county service area. They will provide support with monitoring
the quality of programs through directing the staffing and training
efforts. In addition, they will represent the organization in
relations with such entities as school boards, local schools,
community partners, government agencies, and funding agents.
Qualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Focus on education,
recreation or human services, and a minimum of 5 -7 years of
experience managing youth, family, recreation programs, and special
events. 2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in YMCA management
experience or related leadership experience in a similar
organization. 3. Experience in leading a complex organization and
demonstrated ability to manage a $10 million annual budget. 4. Must
pass Level 2 Background Screening. Level 2 is a fingerprint check
of state and federal criminal history conducted through the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI). 5. Ability to develop, train and implement
quality developmentally appropriate activities. 6. Strong people
skills and team-oriented. 7. Effective written and verbal
communication skills. 8. Flexibility, resourcefulness, high energy
and adapting to changing needs. 9. Organization and time management
skills necessary to meet deadlines. 10. Ability to relate
effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and
economic segments of the community. 11. Excellent ability to
operate business software and office machines. Essential Functions
1. Maintains fiscal responsibility for assigned Before & After
School and Camp programs. 2. Leads and grows all Youth Development
programs and staff in a manner that supports service, fundraising
goals, and staff collaboration. 3. Develop strategic and
operational plans for school-age programs and assume responsibility
for budget. 4. Ensures budget commitments are met through sound
financial stewardship of YMCA resources. 5. Provides staff
leadership for annual fundraising campaign. 6. Review and evaluate
the enrollment, programs, services, and operation of programs to
support the strategic vision of the YMCA. 7. Consistently
identifies community needs and innovates new childcare programs to
fill the opportunity. 8. Represents and interprets the impact of
YMCA programming to internal and external stakeholders. 9. Oversee
the hiring, training, and supervision of staff in assigned areas.
Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Model
relationship-building skills in all interactions. 10. Assures the
execution of the decisions at various programs, involving
correspondence, personal contact, and representation by appropriate
action. 11. Conducts frequent program site visits. Use quality
assessment tools to observe, analyze, and improve the quality of
school age programs. Develops Quality Improvement Plans for
programs. 12. Assures compliance with state and local regulations.
Ensure that programs standards are met and safety procedures are
followed. Ensures deliverables are met with all licensure
guidelines and grant outcomes. 13. Collects, analyzes, and reports
data as required for assigned programs. Other duties assigned by

change. Communication: Offers ongoing communication with parents
and caregivers as partners around program goals. Ensure staff
understand and apply appropriate listening and speaking techniques

ongoing training and resources around child and youth development
techniques and strategies for staff. Quality Results: Actively
implements regular evaluations of program goals, environment, and
outcomes. Holds staff accountable for high quality results. Project
Management: Reviews program plans and records to ensure that they
are consistent with evidence-based practice.
